Youth For Understanding is looking for a dedicated European Solidarity Corps volunteer to join us in the Global Office in Brussels for ten and a half (10,5) months!

The volunteer in this project will have the chance to enhance their organizational skills by supporting our educational activities as well as learn about long-term Intercultural Youth Exchanges worldwide, by being involved in the multiple actions related to the organization of such experiences. Moreover, the volunteer will improve their communication skills by promoting and raising awareness for YFU’s activities and impact.

This experience will offer the selected volunteer the chance to get an insight into how a Global NGO operates and more specifically, into the project cycle of educational events and trainings, from the logistics & preparation to running the event and follow-up, including reimbursements and reporting. Since a lot of educational activities and courses moved to digital platforms, it is also a chance to get to know better the online events’ production side. The selected volunteer will have the opportunity to work also with other departments of the organization, if deemed necessary, expanding their knowledge of different fields according to their professional interests.

Lastly, they will support the office to organize and promote its biggest international event, the Youth Empowerment Seminar to YFU students on exchange in Europe in the 2025-2026 program year.

Starting date: Preferably, you should be relocating to Brussels and ready to start on October 1st, 2025.

Tasks of the volunteer

Support the coordination of Educational Activities & Opportunities (both in-person and digital)

  • Support with putting together narrative and financial grant reports, according to the funders/organizations’ needs 
  • Support the communication with participants and organizations regarding logistics of educational activities (training courses, workshops, etc.)
  • Support the implementation (including internal communication) of YFU’s educational events, which includes ensuring all the needed materials are available for internal and external stakeholders and handling last minute logistical changes.
  • Support the logistical arrangements of educational events
  • Support the follow-up of educational activities, including processing reimbursements and helping out with finalizing the project outputs (e.g. manuals, booklets, digital tools, etc.)
  • Support the development of E-learning courses through helping to place them on the e-learning platform
  • Support the development of Tutorials for YFU Staff

    Support the coordination of the Youth Empowerment Seminar – the biggest event in YFU

    • Support organizing the preparatory meetings
    • Support with distributing students into housing
    • On-site support at the event which will require a 2-week relocation to Berlin (all costs covered by YFU)
    • Support with vendors, contracts and other orders needed for the YES
    • Support in promoting the YES Seminar 2026 to YFU students on exchange in Europe
    • Support with putting together narrative and financial grant reports, according to the funders/organizations’ needs for this event;
    • Support with communication with volunteers, participants and Member Organizations regarding sign-up procedures, volunteer selection, logistics, etc.

          Logistical arrangements

          • The volunteer will be expected to work (mostly on-site in the office) on a full-time basis, 38h/week according to the Belgian law.
          • EEE-YFU will provide a monthly allowance of around 1020 euro, which will enable you to secure accommodation and subsistence during your stay in Brussels. We will support you with helpful indications, but it will be your responsibility to secure your housing during your volunteer year.
          • Travel to and from Brussels for relocation will be covered by the program. All travels and subsistence during assigned events will be fully covered.The volunteering opportunity will last for 10.5 months.

          Eligibility criteria

          • Between 18 and 30 years old
          • Legally reside in an EU Member State or a third country associated to the Programme (North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Turkey)
          • Have registered in the European Solidarity Corps Portal.
