EEE-YFU
About EEE-YFU
EEE-YFU (European Educational Exchanges – Youth for Understanding) is the umbrella organization for Youth For Understanding (YFU) in Europe. Established 1985 in Brussels as an international non-profit association under Belgian law (AISBL), EEE-YFU supports its 26 Member Organizations across Europe in creating meaningful impact through youth exchanges and intercultural education.
We empower our members through educational activities, training and capacity building, advocacy, and strategic partnerships. Our strategic goals are to strengthen and grow our network of impactful youth workers, position YFU as a leading voice in intercultural learning, influence relevant policy, and deliver innovative responses to the challenges of an evolving society.
Our Purpose & Mission
EEE-YFU promotes and supports YFU’s mission in Europe: to advance intercultural understanding, lifelong learning, global competencies, mutual respect, and social responsibility through transformational educational exchanges. These life-changing experiences engage generations of youth, families, and communities, and are made possible by the dedication of volunteers and professional staff.
To fulfil this purpose, we strengthen our Member Organizations by:
- Delivering training and development opportunities for students, volunteers, staff, and other stakeholders
- Enhancing YFU's visibility of YFU in Europe and within European institutions and organisations;
- Advocating for policies and legislation that enable and advance intercultural understanding
- Building partnerships to expand reach and impact
- Raising awareness and mobilizing resources to support our shared goals.
Our Structure
EEE-YFU is guided by a three-member Board, elected by the General Assembly. The Board not only steers the strategic direction of EEE-YFU but also represents the European YFU Member Organizations on the International Board of YFU.
Our staff team is integrated within the YFU Global Office, strengthening collaboration and expanding the impact of our work across the wider YFU network.
