I met students, Host Families and volunteers whose life had been impacted by the exchange experience with YFU and I knew right then...
"My story with YFU starts in 1990 when after a two year tenure in Europe with an international Consulting Firm I returned to Mexico to look for new opportunities. I found YFU, who was looking for a Project Manager to work on a U.S.-Mexico Project, funded by the Kellogg Foundation where YFU and 20 other exchange organizations where involved. Getting to know YFU and what it does in the lives of the people it touches got me hooked. I met students, Host Families and volunteers whose life had been impacted by the exchange experience with YFU and I knew right then that I wanted to be part of it. After the three year project I stayed involved with YFU in different volunteer positions in the Board, training and support teams. I returned to the staff in 2001 and since 2002 have served as the National Director. I was born in a very small town in the bi-cultural environment of the U.S.-Mexico border and growing up I wanted to get out of my hometown in the desert and see the world. I thought it was seeing places, and YFU thought me to see the world in ways I did not imagine then. YFU changed my life; my career plans, my perspective of the world."Who we are
